One of the most enduring symbols of Western Australia are the beautiful, yet bizarre orange and black-striped beehive-like domes rising up from the dusty savannah plains. Located in the Purnululu National Park in the Kimberly, these World Heritage-listed icons have drawn thousands of visitors every year who come to marvel at their striking and other-wordly formations.
The park offers a plethora of activities for visitors to enjoy, from thrilling open-sided helicopter tours to Indigenous cultural excursions where you are regaled with stories and intriguing insight from the local peoples who have lived at this site for over a millenia.
Additional activities include hiking the Echidna Chasm to watch the walls illuminate the towering one meter-wide fissure as the sun passes overhead, as well as meandering through the surreal maze of black and orange domes that culminate in the Cathedral Gorge, an amphitheater with a serene pool as its centerpiece.
