Basil’s Bar, St Vincent and the Grenadines

Perched over the Caribbean Sea on bamboo stilts, this formerly tiny rum shack has expanded significantly over the past 30 years, hosting everyone from Academy Award-winners to royalty.

Situated on Mustique, a private island in St Vincent and the Grenadines, Basil’s Bar is open 365 days a year from 8am every morning and, according to owner Basil Charles, closes ‘when the last man falls’.

Vodka, rum, crème de cocoa and lime juice make up signature cocktail Hurricane Dave, sunset jazz sessions are played every sunday and the Blues Festival is hosted here in January and February each year.
