Tucked away in a private cove, Playa conchal could double as the beach in the eponymous Leo Di Caprio movie. Virtually cut off from the rest of the world, the beach offers a bountiful swathe of seashell sands and calm aquamarine waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling.
Situated between two rocky points, Playa Conchal offers a number of activities, from jet skiing to diving, as well as a number of kiosks selling pipas fritas (cold coconuts) and BBQ kabobs. For those looking for some cool refreshment, they also sell pina coladas and frosty beers.
Due to its remote location, the beach doesn’t get too crowded, making it an ideal place to drop your towel and catch some rays, with views over the bright blue waters and your charter yacht anchored out in the harbor – with the crew ready on standby should you need anything.
Dive into the warm waters for a swim, and don’t forget your snorkel gear. There are great snorkeling opportunities to be found near the rocks at the northern end, where you can spot fascinating tropical marine life, such as pufferfish, wily eels, darting needle fish and schools of grunts. Mid to low tides offer the best conditions for this activity.
Enjoy sundowners on the beach and watch the sky’s color seamlessly change from orange and pinks to purples in a kaleidoscopic light show, before heading back to the yacht for some evening revelries on board.
