Ideal for Winter Season
As the largest marine national park in Indonesia, a tour around Cenderawasih is an ideal trip for animal lovers and diving enthusiasts. Spending most of your week-long trip in the crisp, cool waters of the national park you will encounter a great number of marine species and stunning coral displays, as well as some impressive shipwrecks.
- Day 1-2
Manokwari
Jump straight in with your first dive of the trip
Transferring from Manokwari airport, your week-long luxury yacht charter experience will begin with a tour of your chosen vessel, followed by exquisite refreshments and the chance to unpack.
With no time like the present, jump straight into exploring this beautiful area by taking your first dive. It's a well known fact that most of the attraction of diving in the area of Cenderawasih Bay lies with the frequently visiting whale sharks. These marine giants do have a lot of attention and popularity when it comes to diving parties, but don't worry because there are large numbers of these sharks in the area.
Beginning to explore the West Papua waters the excitement levels will go into overdrive as you visit some incredible shipwrecks. The first point of call on the shipwreck front is a 25 meter plunge to a Japanese cargo ship. Resting on its side there is minimal space to explore inside the vessel but once inside you can expect to see bombs and armaments tractors.
Another historic dive, and possibly the more popular of the two wrecks, is a dive site known as the 'cross wreck'. Not as deep as the previous dive, at only 20 meters, this dive has indications that the vessel was sunk during the second world war. Now smothered in corals, this dive is now a habitation for many underwater marine species, including various breeds of fish.
- Day 3 - 6
At Sea
Whale sharks galore
During these few days out at sea your dedicated crew will be escorting you to some traditional fishing platforms in order to once again meet up with some whale sharks.
There are plenty of opportunities to see the whale sharks in the open waters. Wherever there are fishing platforms you will find some the sharks. The obvious reason being the heavy population of fish, but due to the friendly attitude from the local fishermen the sharks remain in the area constantly and also tend to stay less than 10 metres from the water's surface.
While exploring the open waters take the chance to take lots of photographs with your underwater camera. The whale sharks will get up close for their mug shots and don't forget the other marine creatures as they also come to investigate your presence.
Evenings at sea can be spent on your luxury charter yacht with candlelit suppers under the unspoilt blanket of stars in the national park.
- Day 7
Nabire
All good things must come to an end
As the last day of your luxury charter yacht tour dawns, you have one last chance to indulge in a freshly prepared breakfast overlooking the beautiful harbour of Nabire. Relax on the aft deck of the yacht before saying your final farewells and disembarking to begin your return journey home from Nabire airport.
