The beautiful resort town of Puerto Vallarta has inspired many creatives and Hollywood elites, who arrived in their droves to bask in its sun-kissed shores and vibrant colorful way of life. Now, you too can soak up the town's culture and buzzy atmosphere on your Mexico yacht charter.
With its houses draped in bougainvillea and the sound of waves lapping at the shore, Puerto Vallarta offers its visitors a captivating beauty that is both beguiling and intriguing. The famous Hollywood couple Richard Burton and Elizabth Taylor spent many a happy holiday here, with houses that connected via a bridge so that they could cross over without having to exit onto the street.
In 2018, the town was declared a Cultural Heritage of the State of Jalisco, a protected area.
Stretching for about a mile, one of the city’s most enjoyable attractions is the wide promenade of the Malecon, complete with beautiful views over the bay, art sculptures and myriad shops, bars and restaurants, making this a vibrant place to soak up your surroundings and get a true taste of Mexico.
Head to the main plaza and watch people stroll by with an ice cream or enjoy the live music that takes place all around the town throughout the peak summer months, including the Municipal band that plays songs at the Kiosk on Thursdays and Sundays at 6pm.
Another prominent sight is the Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe, or Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe - a beautiful church that symbolizes Puerto Vallarta - and has become the iconic landmark for the town.
