2021 Miami Yacht Show on hold

The organizers of the upcoming Miami Yacht Show, which is held in conjunction with Superyacht Miami in Biscayne Bay, have announced that the 2021 edition of the show has been postponed as a result of COVID-19.

Originally set to go ahead between 11 - 15 February, the Miami Yacht Show has pressed pause on its 2021 edition as the ongoing Coronavirus crisis continues to restrict travel and cause health and safety concerns.

“This is the first time in our 33-year history we have been faced with circumstances that have caused us to reschedule the Miami Yacht Show,” says Andrew Doole, General Manager and Vice President of Informa Markets U.S. Boat Shows.

Mr Doole and Informa remain resilient, however, saying; "We are hopeful that we will be able to host an event later in the year. But we have to make that decision collectively with our community.”

The show has always marked a key date for the yachting industry, with a great turn-out from new and used yachts in the 15-30m market at the show's principal location at Biscayne Bay, with an on-land address at One Herald Plaza.

The Superyacht Miami component of the show has also been a big draw for those in the market for a larger yacht. Held at Yacht Haven Grande (formerly known as Island Gardens Deep Marina), Superyacht Miami has traditionally hosted a superb selection of luxury yachts for charter.

The news comes off the back of the Miami International Boat Show announcing its cancellation last week. The two shows have traditionally been held concurrently, allowing attendees to peruse a wider market in the same area, with a water taxi service in place between all three locations.

In spite of the cancellations, FLIBS has just rounded down a successful edition of the boat show. It's the first major international yachting event to get the green light since the start of the COVID crisis, and although the turn-out was smaller than years previously, initial sentiments suggest a number of deals were finalized and sales were made on the docks.
