With the Antigua Charter Yacht Show 2017 now less than a week away, we take a look at a cross section of the motor yachts heading to Antigua for the industry meet and round up five of the best.
More than 70 superyachts are expected to descend on the Caribbean island of Antigua over the next few days in time for the annual event which, running from 4th to 10th December, provides a week-long programme of yacht viewings for industry professionals.
Taking into account the different size and budget requirements of a variety of charter guests, here are five of the best motor yachts attending the annual event.
UNBRIDLED
The best in class for yachts under 40 metres is the 35m/116ft superyacht UNBRIDLED. Since launching from Crescent Yachts in 1995, she has undergone over $6,000,000 worth of refit work, which has kept her in immaculate condition and equipped with the latest amenities.
For a yacht of 35 metres, she certainly has a lot to offer charter guests. A new Jacuzzi added to her sundeck in 2015 joined a wet bar, covered dining space, lounge and disco ball, while a large swim platform is the perfect place to launch her wide variety of water toys.
Equally impressive is the stunning interior. The main salon doubles as a luxurious home theatre, one of the most in-demand superyacht chefs serves up delicious dishes in the country-style galley and up to eight guests can be accommodated in four sophisticated staterooms.
VERTIGE
Hitting the water in April this year, the 50m/164ft superyacht VERTIGE from Tankoa Yachts is expected to be one of the most popular yachts at the show as industry professionals will be eager to inspect her award-winning exterior, state-of-the-art facilities and cool and calm interior.
A key aim was to create large and comfortable outdoor spaces and this has definitely been achieved. The main deck aft can easily host 14 people on sofas and loungers, a 14-seater dining table awaits on the upper deck aft and the sundeck features a Jacuzzi, a bar, seating areas and sunning spots.
There is also a large beach platform with access into a gym, while huge windows and features such as drop-down side balconies in the full-beam master suite create a visual continuity with the ocean while inside.
MY SEANNA
After attending the Antigua Yacht Show in 2014 and 2015, the 56m/185ft superyacht ‘My Seanna’ will be making a highly-anticipated return this year. Incredibly versatile and boasting ornate interior styling, the Delta Marine build is one of the most sought-after charter yachts on the market.
Much of My Seanna’s appeal stems from her 2014 refit and stern extension, which created vast deck spaces across three levels. Charterers can expect a helipad, outdoor cinema, an oversized waterfall Jacuzzi with a swim-up bar, a large dining area, a chic new beach club and a sumptuous crow’s nest.
Meanwhile, her magnificent interior features white marble and fittings brushed in 22 carat gold leaf and other highlights include a gymnasium, sauna, outstanding cigar collection and a treasure chest of the latest water toys to make use of on a private yacht charter.
ILLUSION V
Another yacht making a return visit to the show is the 58m/190ft superyacht ‘Illusion V’ and, as always, she will wow all those who step aboard thanks to her unique aesthetic.
From pitted travertine walls and coconut furniture to leather roses and a stingray staircase, a huge variety of materials and styles fuse together on board this Benetti build.
Yet, it’s not solely about looks. She has been designed with comfort as an absolute priority and, as such, charterers can truly relax while experiencing the very best in outdoor living and no-end of indoor luxuries.
A favourite spot among guests is the open-plan sundeck. A central dining space can be closed off from the elements, while a Jacuzzi and bar sits forward, with a sumptuous alfresco lounge aft.
PHOENIX 2
On top of everyone’s ‘must-see’ list and offering the ultimate in luxury is the 90m/295ft superyacht ‘Phoenix 2’. Despite hitting the water in 2010, she has only recently joined the charter market, meaning show goers will be keen to check out her quality Lurssen craftsmanship and exquisite Andrew Winch styling.
Lined up in the Antigua Yacht Club Marina, she will be instantly recognisable thanks to her sparkling four metre phoenix figurehead. But, jam-packed with unique features, she is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression on all those who step aboard.
Among her highlights are a 7.5 metre contraflow pool on the sundeck which adjoins a spa pool, an indoor-outdoor ‘winter garden’ on the upper deck aft, dedicated spa facilities, dazzling art deco interior styling and room for 120 guests at dockside parties.
