Luxury Phinisi ‘Dunia Baru’ Wins Charter Accolade at Asia Boating Awards

By Rebecca Bradbury   11 April 2017

The 51m/167ft superyacht ‘Dunia Baru’ from Konjo Boat Builders won the prestigious title of ‘Best-Asia Based Charter Yacht’ at the 2017 Asia Boating Awards held in Singapore last week.

Dunia Baru was picked from a strong field of seven finalists thanks to her innovative approach to guest enjoyment and director of operations, Courtney Robba, was on hand to collect the award at a glitzy awards ceremony held at Singapore’s ONE°15 Marina in Sentosa Cove.

Created by Asia-Pacific Boating and China Boating magazines, the annual Asia Boating Awards recognise the best of the maritime industry in Asia and internationally, and were held again this year as part of the Singapore Yacht Show, which drew to a close on Sunday.

Among those also nominated for the award were the 51m/167ft converted expedition yacht ‘Northern Sun’, the Norman Foster-designed 41m/135ft superyacht ‘Ocean Emerald’ from Rodriquez Yachts and fellow Konjo Boat Builders launch, the 50m/164ft luxury phinisi SILOLONA.

Dunia Baru was fuelled by a desire to build the finest ship to have ever been constructed in Indonesia

Launched in 2014, superyacht Dunia Baru was fuelled by a desire to build the finest ship to have ever been constructed in Indonesia. Her sleek teak and ironwood lines and distinctive bark-coloured sails define a majestic vessel that carries guests in utter luxury through her native cruising grounds.

Traditional lines have been honed into a state-of-the-art hull to offer exceptional safety, handling and stability, while her carefully designed interior was built by the very best carpenters and craftsmen on the Indonesian island of Bali.

Radiating laid-back luxury, the sailing yacht offers a range of activities, from sunbathing in one of the outdoor lounging areas and indulging in a massage from the on-board therapist to sipping cocktails in the alfresco bar setup, dining in the unique eat-in galley and stargazing on the foredeck,

For more information on what she can offer on a yacht charter read our Dunia Baru review or check out the story of Dunia Baru, which takes a detailed look at her fascinating history from conception to launch.

Between April and September, she will be sailing the Alor Archipelago to islands such as Flores and Komodo. She is also available for charter in Thailand and Myanmar.
