Monaco Yacht Show 2021 - Confirmed with a new client-focused format for its 30th anniversary

By Nina Done   25 February 2021

The yachting industry’s illustrious boat show, held on the glamorous quays of Monaco’s Port Hercule, has been revamped for 2021. The owners of Monaco Yacht Show, in collaboration with a steering committee of superyacht industry experts, have decided to take a more client-focused approach to the show by “placing superyacht clients at its very heart”.

After an enforced hiatus in 2020, the group have spent the year redesigning the MYS, which will be debuted in this year’s show, from 22 - 25 September. Based on feedback, the organisers have revealed their plans to transform the event in a recent virtual press conference, to a show that 'attracted high-quality visitors’. Those wishing to buy or charter yachts will be given full priority, followed by their teams of designers and superyacht managers.

VIPs will be plunged into the world of superyachting from the moment they arrive at the show

The latest press release has confirmed hat 300 exhibitors will be participating, as well as nearly 60 superyachts in attendance, including 40 brand-new launches.

New registration and badge system

The 2021 MYS will also incorporate a new registration system, generating badges according to the profile of each visitor. As the definitive networking event in the yachting calendar, the badges are intended to make it easier to foster the right connections within the yacht show itself.

There will be 3 types of badges;

‘Discover’ - for buyers and charterers
‘Advise’ -  for advisors and consultants, such as designers and yacht managers
‘Connect’ - for all trade visitors

There will also be a 'Sapphire Experience' badge, giving holders premium access to the 2 VIP entrances equipped with waiting lounges, close to the Yacht Club de Monaco – "VIPs will be plunged into the world of superyachting from the moment they arrive at the show”.

VIP Open Day – 22 September

The first day of the show will be dedicated solely to superyacht end users and their advisors, thus providing a more intimate and personalised environment, allowing visitors unfettered access to the Superyacht and Tender Exhibition in the Dockside Area before the show is opened to all badges from day two.

This one-day dockside exclusivity is being trialled for 2021, but could be extended in future years.

Those wishing to buy or charter yachts will be given full priority

New Sections

The show will incorporate new sections held on Quai l'Hirondelle dedicated to innovative projects and trends in sailing, design and exploration, as well as themed areas to help attendees navigate the show with ease. In addition, there will be a 'Yacht Design & Innovation Hub'offering digital solutions to help promote interactions between visitors and exhibitors at the show, and throughout the year.

This new format is also intended to win over high-end audiences from spheres beyond the yachting arena, in line with marketing strategies over recent years.

Ticket prices for 2021 have also been increased to €500

COVID-safe show assured

In the latest press release, General Manager of the exhibition Gaëlle Tallarida confirmed: "We are following the evolution of the pandemic very closely, as well as the sanitary constraints applied in each of our visitors' home countries. As organisers of the exhibition, our responsibility is to ensure safe and healthy conditions for each visitor, exhibitor, service provider and member of staff. The MYS will therefore be following the health measures instated by the principality’s government, as well as the "AllSecure" health security programme, which is mandatory for all Informa Group events."
