Sail and ski in Norway aboard charter yacht FIREBIRD

By Rebecca Bradbury   5 November 2018

The 27m/89ft sailing yacht FIREBIRD from UK-based Oyster Yachts is offering a unique sailing and skiing charter experience in Norway in spring 2019.

Built by Oyster Yachts in 2016, FIREBIRD was designed for both hot and cold-weather sailing itineraries. Early next year she will be taking discerning travellers to the heart of the Lyngen Alps in Norway’s Tromso region to undertake some of Europe’s best off-piste skiing.

A number of adaptations make the sailing yacht the perfect platform for such an adventure. Her large cockpit can be fully enclosed and heated for the winter season while her sail locker can host a ski rack and the water toys in her lazarette can be replaced by an eight-pair boot heater.

Non-skiers will also be kept well-entertained as the region has plenty more to offer than just skiing. Whale-watching, dog sledging and shoe shoeing are all possible, as is visiting an array of cultural attractions such as distilleries, museums and various historical sites.

What’s more, the Northern Lights makes regular appearances and there could be no better way to take in this spine-tingling phenomenon than from aboard a luxury yacht.

Combining a deluxe interior, cutting-edge performance and modern amenities, superyacht FIREBIRD can certainly transport guests to off-the-beaten-track destinations in the utmost style. Her ambience has even be likened to that of a luxury alpine salon, perfect for snow-filled charter vacations.

Charterers will be able to take in wonderful 360-degree views of the local scenery from the spacious salon as well as catch up with family and friends over a warming drink or a delicious dinner created by the talented on-board chef, who will keep guests suitably fuelled for a day on the ski slopes.

Guests slippers and signature orange cashmere blankets also mean guests can enjoy their morning coffee on deck while breathing in the fresh air and taking in the region’s incredible beauty.

After a day discovering the sublime waters of Scandinavia, guests can retreat into one of four sumptuous cabins, including a full-beam master suite and three guest cabins, one of which can also serve as a study or lower deck salon. Seven guests can be accommodated on a yacht charter in total.
