The Brokers Choice Of Charter Yachts At The Mediterranean Yacht Show 2016

By Oliver Pearson   18 May 2016

Following the success of this year’s Mediterranean Yacht Show, YachtCharterFleet quizzed a range of international brokers to find out which yachts impressed them the most. Having broken down the results, we can now reveal the two which came out on top to become the ‘Brokers Choice’ for yachts under and over 30m.

Keen to get a sense of which vessels had won over the many brokers at the Mediterranean Yacht Show 2016, the editorial team at YachtCharterFleet set out on the final night to conduct a ‘Brokers Choice’ poll.

With each broker selecting a yacht under and over 30m, the team were able to discover which of the quality yachts on display had left the most lasting impression.

Unsurprisingly, there was no clear landslide, and the winners in each category were decided by a very fine margin, with as little as two votes securing first place for one of the winners.

With this in mind, we can now announce the names of the yachts which pipped their competition to the post and became this year’s ‘Brokers Choice’.

Brokers Choice For Yachts Under 30m: motor yacht ‘Aqua Libra’

With brokers frequently commenting on how she is perfectly sized for the East Mediterranean, the 28m/92ft Sunseeker motor yacht Aqua Libra placed first in the Brokers Choice category for yachts under 30m this year.

Entirely immaculate, those answering the poll enthusiastically reiterated how well-appointed her areas are, with the addition of a retractable balcony on the starboard side establishing an effortless transition between her interior and exterior spaces.

When taking a detailed tour of the yacht, the editorial team at YachtCharterFleet learned from the crew how the balcony is an incredibly popular spot for morning coffee and nighttime cocktails.

Built in 2012, M/Y Aqua Libra still exudes a youthful radiance, and her collection of black American walnuts are offset by cream coloured furnishings and large windows, producing a noticeably airy atmosphere.

As mentioned previously, her size also makes her an ideal choice for chartering in Greece, with her extendable swim platform and assortment of water toys making her very much the complete package.

Optimising all of her available space, Aqua Libra provides charter guests with a range of areas to get comfortable in

Brokers Choice For Yachts Over 30m: motor yacht ‘Zaliv III’

A tightly contested battle between the 40m/131ft motor yacht ‘Cacos V’, the elegantly styled 50m/165ft luxury yacht ‘Zaliv III’, and the 46m/150ft motor yacht ANCALLIA (a fantastically rebuilt Feadship), it was ultimately Zaliv III which pipped the competition to take the prize as the Brokers Choice for yachts over 30m.

Beginning life as a quintessential family yacht, Zaliv III is replete with all of the features and finishing touches which distinguish a truly special superyacht.

Her master suite, for example, is attached to a small anteroom which includes a pullman berth to allow parents to sleep in a closer proximity to their children. Likewise, a wide and fully-equipped private study on the owner’s deck allows guests to attend to any necessary business whilst away on a charter.

From a generously sized dining room which can be instantly converted into a games room, to a dedicated spa room with adjustable mood lighting, M/Y Zaliv III accommodates across all ages and sensibilities.

Shortlisted for prestigious prizes at both the World Superyacht Awards and Showboats Design Awards when she was delivered in 2012, brokers were unanimous in their praise for her wider beam and the various guest spaces on offer.

Anticipating all the needs of the modern charterer, Zaliv III is a superyacht which entertains her guests in unparalleled comfort and style

Having enjoyed lunch on board Zaliv III earlier on in the week, the editorial team at YachtCharterFleet can confirm the comments from brokers which referred to her spacious layout. Indeed, even with 12 guests seated at the formal dining table, there was still an abundance of room for everyone to enjoy their meal without ever feeling cramped.

In terms of her interior design, a variety of mid-range woods have been superbly whitewashed and arranged to subtly showcase beautiful grain patterns. Contrasted by a range of brightly coloured fixtures and illuminated by recessed lighting, these woods which adorn the floors and walls create a wholly inviting ambience.

The exterior spaces are just as impressive, with a deep Jacuzzi on the sundeck offering  privacy in which to take in the views and climate, and a large swim platform providing convenient access to the water and tenders.
