VIDEO: Day 3 at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017

By Rebecca Bradbury   15 September 2017

The latest footage from the Cannes Yachting Festival 2017 rounds up all the action from day three in Cannes, with a focus on catamarans and the event’s 40th anniversary celebrations.

Once again, show manager Sylvie Ernoult introduced the film clip, which succinctly sums up the third day of proceedings. After two days of looking at the motor and sailing yachts in attendance, this time the limelight is on the 43 catamarans on show.

Panning over the Vieux Port, the footage reveals the elegant vessels lined up together, sparkling in the September sunshine and with their bunting fluttering in the gentle breeze.

Founder of Solarwave Michael Köhler was on hand to introduce the company’s multi-hull Solarwave 64. A unique selling point of the Solarwave multi-hull builds is that their propulsion is pure electric and the energy is generated by solar panels.

CEO of Catana Catamarans Olivier Poncin is also on camera, showcasing four yachts from the yard. These include the cutting-edge C53 and three offerings from the BALI range, which is designed to meet the needs of yachtsmen looking to sail with maximum living space, comfort and safety.

As the clip demonstrates, all these catamarans are fitted out in the luxuries and refined finishes expected from a modern day motor yacht, with stylish living areas inside and out.

This year marks the festival’s 40th anniversary edition and festivities were in full swing during the evening. Champagne and canapes were being served as fashion shows, musicians and other entertainment took to the stage, wowing the crowds in attendence.

There was also a human-sized birthday cake and fireworks lit up the Bay of Cannes to brilliant effect. This was followed up this morning by an magnificent display from the RAF Red Arrows thanks to Sunseeker

Today the show has its late night opening and will be running until 10pm. It will return over the weekend for its final two days. As well as multi-hulls, there is an impressive range of other luxury yachts available for sale and charter at the show.
