Locanda Don Serafino is one of Sicily’s finest restaurants, located in the historic hilltop town of Ragusa Ibla – a UNESCO heritage site boasting opulent Baroque facades, pastel-hued palazzos and bougainvillea-laden trattorias.
The restaurant is romantically set in a medieval palazzi, close to Chiesa dei Miracoli - another UNESCO site. The dining room is softly-lit, featuring caverns and exposed barrel-vaulted limestone arches, all adding to the authentic feel of this medieval Italian dwelling. The Locanda is affiliated with its boutique hotel that sprawls across several buildings in the town, encompassing 11 artfully restored rooms and the restaurant itself.
The hotel was founded in 2004 by the Rosa family, with Chef Vincenzo Candiano heading up the restaurant since its establishment.
Awarded his first Michelin star in 2007, his conceptual dishes are grounded in Sicilian and Hyblean tradition based on his childhood, using meticulously sourced Sicilian produce of almost exclusively raw materials and fish sourced from the Med.
Expect signature primos of black spaghetti with sea urchins and delectable beef filet baked in a crust of smoked potato and tobacco secondis which are a testament to the restaurant's pledge of “seasonality, experimentation, innovation”.
The restaurant also boasts a wine cellar of over 1,900 labels with an experienced sommelier ensuring perfect pairings with each exquisite dish. There is also an extensive spirits menu and cigar list on offer.
