Is This The Future Of The Ultimate Charter Yacht?

Following the recent launch of the revolutionary 96m/315ft Feadship superyacht VERTIGO, we ask if she was to become available for charter, would she set the new standard?
Generating the kind of excitement which only occurs when Feadship open one of their shed doors, the revealing of superyacht VERTIGO unsurprisingly had everyone caught up in a fervor. Seeing her sweeping exterior lines and iconic flared bow for the first time, onlookers were keen to comment on her innovative and eye-catching styling.
Currently for sale, her 96m LOA makes her the third largest Feadship motor yacht ever built, and her wealth of unique features certainly makes her one of the most impressive.
A video rendering which takes the viewer on a virtual tour of the various interior and exterior spaces certainly suggests that, should her eventual owner decide to make her available for charter, there would certainly be a great deal of demand for her.
Watch the video
Hinting at the futuristic feel of the of the yacht, the video definitely provides a detailed insight into the kind of luxury living which is possible on board.
Indeed, along with its pedigree Feadship design, VERTIGO is clearly a commanding superyacht which offers an abundance of options to those on board.
Taking a look at its key features, we find out if this is what the future looks like for the ultimate luxury yacht charter vacation.
The Helipad
The first thing which is sure to arrest the attention of the viewer is the broad bow which can be transformed into a fully operational helipad. Reminiscent of the similarly revolutionary 99m/325ft motor yacht ‘Madame Gu’, the landing pad opens up through the doors to the hangar below.
Housing a Bell 429 WLG helicopter, such a feature obviously allows guests to arrive and disembark from the superyacht in complete style and with the utmost convenience. Whilst the hangar belonging to Madame Gu doubles up as a squash court, the one on VERTIGO has so far only been described as transforming into a ‘games deck’.
Masters of such innovative technology, Feadship began implementing hangars on large superaychts back in 2004 when they built the award-winning 86m/282ft luxury yacht ECSTASEA.
Nicely illustrated in the above images, the hangar of Madame Gu provides an approaching helicopter with plenty of room to make its landing before allowing guests to access the interior of the yacht within a matter of moments.
The virtual footage of VERTIGO likewise demonstrates how practical such a feature is, with the landing placing guests in an appropriate spot to take in their surroundings before deciding where to head on board.
Of course, when it comes to considering the future of charter yacht, such transformative features cannot be overlooked, and are likely to be a part of superyachts with ever greater frequency.
Combining forward-thinking design with countless innovative features, Feadship superyacht VERTIGO is nothing short of a revolution
The Beach Club
With retractable doors on the port and starboard sides, as well as towards the aft, guests are able to enjoy their surroundings from the comfort of spacious waterside balconies. Not only this, but the amount of natural light which will spill into the area is sure to make it feel airy and relaxed.
What’s more, the infinity pool on the main deck forms part of the ceiling to allow further light to fall from above. No doubt best observed at the full-sized bar located at the centre of the beach club, the curved glass panelling of the pool produces both a shallow and a deep end- a truly rare feat for a swimming pool on board a superyacht.
The general aesthetic of the space is enlivened by gloss finishes and a number of brightly coloured furnishings which all but call out to be lounged on when the yacht is at-anchor. With staircases leading up to the other decks, accessibility has also been made a priority.
Ultimately, the dimensions and layout of the beach club are entirely unrivalled, and certainly hint towards a revolution in the experience of being on board a luxury yacht.
The Pool
Gracefully sloping forwards, the swimming pool on the main deck aft is sure to rank highly among guests. With the option to soak in the shallow end or leisurely paddle at the deep end, cooling off won’t get much better than this.
With sunpads flanking the pool, it’s easy to imagine how entire parties could gather here to take in their sun-drenched surroundings throughout the day.
A suitably impressive finishing touch, a waterfall cascades into the pool from the above deck to create an engaging environment for both relaxing and entertaining in.
The Interior
Described by Feadship’s director as a ‘true gentleman’s yacht’, the renderings of the interior of superyacht VERTIGO suggests that she exudes an effortless sophistication.
Flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows and with a sleek grand piano occupying the port side corner, the main salon looks to be perfectly primed for both intimate and informal occasions.
As a popular component of today’s active lifestyles, a gym has been integrated into the interior to allow guests to keep up with even the most strenuous of regimes.
Whilst the Owner’s deck, complete with a private office and generous sleeping space, is assuredly the crowning jewel of the accommodation, a further eight cabins allow a total of eighteen guests to stay on board.
It would certainly appear that the future of the ultimate luxury yacht charter has everything to do with functional spaces which offer guests the greatest connection with the sea.
Similarly, yachts which are built to a charter code which will allow parties larger than twelve to get away together are sure to be a hit.
Whilst there is no news suggesting M/Y VERTIGO will be open for charter, feel free to take a look at all of the Feadship superyachts which are available for charter.
