Home of the Canadian Grand Prix since 1978, the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve is situated on Montreal's Ile Notre Dame, a man-made island in the centre of St Lawrence River that was created using rock excavated for the Montreal Metro. The track is a semi-permanent racing circuit with the area around the pits reserved for racing alone while the rest of the track is open to road traffic throughout the summer, making the asphalt extremely smooth.
F1 enthusiasts from around the globe will arrive in Montreal ion the lead up to the race, eager to get the most out of the 72 hour event. Beginning on Friday 6th June with practice sessions, qualifying will take place on Saturday 7th June and the race itself on Sunday 8th.
