Nanny Cay Resort and Marina, Tortola
7 - 10 Nov 2016
Following on from the Virgin Islands Charter Yacht League (VICL) Fall Yacht Show in St Thomas, the British Virgin Islands host their own 4-day charter yacht show at Nanny Cay Resort and Marina.
Signalling the opening of the winter charter season in the Caribbean, the 35th edition of the charter show seeks to celebrate everything the Virgin Islands charter industry has to offer.
Uniting charter brokers from around the globe, a huge variety of charter yachts and their crews, alongside industry professionals, the event offers the ideal blend of daytime viewings, social events, informational seminars and competitions amongst the attending fleet.
Established in 1982, not-for-profit organisation Charter Yacht Society (CYS) was founded by independent owners of crewed yachts in the British Virgin Islands and actively promotes the islands’ charter industry.
Attended largely by smaller yachts, executive director of the CYS, Janet Oliver says being “Luxurious yet affordable is what sets our show apart.” A fleet of approximately 70 to 75 yachts are expected to be in attendance at the Charter Yacht Show, as well as over a 100 brokers from all over the world.
Summarising the Virgin Islands charter experience, Oliver adds, “We are blessed with fabulous sailing grounds: gentle trade winds, topographic diversity from islands made of volcanic rock to limestone, vibrant dive sites, and an industry infrastructure in place which is world class.”
