St Tropez, France
Beginning of October
Starting out in 1981 as La Nioulargue, Les Voiles de St Tropez is a spectacular yachting rendezvous held annually at the end of the Mediterranean's regatta season.
In early autumn, the week-long regatta brings together more than 300 of the world’s most beautiful classic and modern sailing yachts. Invited by the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, the yachts come not only to race against the stunning backdrop of St Tropez but to enjoy its incomparable atmosphere.
Sailing and racing enthusiasts come from around the world and flock to the Mediterannean to face the competition, with the Rolex Trophy awarded to the winner of the classic division, the BMW Trophy awarded to the winner of the Wally class and the Trophy Group Edmond de Rothschild awarded to the winner of the IRC class.
With a limit of 300 entries, Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is open to yachts measuring over nine metres in length. The race is usually made up of coastal courses in the Bay of St Tropez, with the modern yachts racing for five days and the classic yachts racing for only four days.
Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez is a popular end to the Mediterranean racing season and is as popular among competitors as it is among spectators who flock to the French Riviera to take in the spectacle.
