Singapore Grand Prix Yacht Charter

Taking place on the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the Singapore Grand Prix was added to the FIA Formula One World Championship calendar in 2008. Before this time, the race had been called the Orient Year Grand Prix and dated back to 1961.

The race name was changed to the Malaysian Grand Prix in 1962 before finally being updated to the Singapore Grand Prix after Singapore achieved independence in 1965. The race was discontinued in 1973 for a number of reasons, including increased traffic, unsuitability of the Thomson Road circuit, and a number of fatal accidents in the 1972 and 1973 races.

Returning in 2008 due to a five-year deal between Singapore GP Pte Ltd, the Singapore Tourist Board and Bernie Ecclestone, the new Singapore Grand Prix was to be sponsored by SingTel. The first race took place at the new Marina Bay Street Circuit as the 15th round of the 2008 FIA Formula One Championship and as the first night-time event in Formula One history.

Following a series of changes to the track over the past few years, the circuit now consists of 61 laps with a total race length of 308.828km. The lap record is currently held by Sebastian Vettel who, in 2013, completed a 5.065km lap in just 1:48.574.
