The ear-splitting clamour of nearly 90 yacht horns marked the end of this year’s Antigua Charter Yacht Show on Wednesday 9th December, following a jam-packed week of yacht viewings, chef competitions, food tastings and glittering events.
Industry brokers from across the world descended onto the Caribbean island of Antigua last week, ready for an exceptional selection of charter yachts at Nelson’s Dockyard Marina, Antigua Yacht Club Marina and Falmouth Harbour Marina to welcome them aboard. For five days, they were able to check out all the latest yacht refits and launches in person as well as meet the captains and crews working on board.
The Yacht Charter Fleet team was also in attendance, similarly participating in viewings and attending exclusive dining experiences on board notable charter yachts such as motor yacht NERO and motor yacht ‘Lauren L’.
On the theme of food, the 16th annual Chefs Competition took place at the show with chefs from expedition yacht ZEEPARD, motor yacht ‘Lady J’ and motor yacht INCEPTION winning their respective categories.
The show’s evening activities kicked off on Saturday 5th December with a Welcome Cocktail Party at the Copper and Lumber Store Hotel, and concluded with the Captains Soiree Charity Dinner on Wednesday 9th December at Admiral’s Inn. Plus, a selection of superyachts took turns to entertain guests every night with drinks, canapes, and music from live bands and international DJs.
Meanwhile, for early risers, Informative Hours took place every morning, covering destinations such as Mexico, Costa Rica, and charter locations in Asia.
Additionally, a number of exciting tours book-ended the show, enabling industry brokers to experience the sights of the island. Activities included spa packages, boat trips, golf and fishing excursions, and rainforest experiences. This ensures that charter brokers are able to provide first-hand knowledge of both itineraries and superyachts when helping clients plan their luxury yacht charter vacations.
Over the upcoming weeks, Yacht Charter Fleet will keep you posted with reviews, food tastings, and captain and chef interviews that took place throughout their time in Antigua.
