Countdown is on for the 2022 Mediterranean Yacht Show

By Nina Done   14 April 2022

With only a couple of weeks to go until the 7th Mediterranean Yacht Show (MEDYS) in Greece, we take a look at what to expect during the anticipated 5-day superyacht charter event after an enforced two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

Running between April 30 - 4 May, the 2022 Mediterranean Yacht Show will be set against the beautiful backdrop of the historical port of Nafplion, a small town on the Argolic Gulf in the Peloponnese that has now become the permanent home for the show.

Experienced charter brokers and yachting industry professionals from across the globe can enjoy the balmy Grecian sun as they peruse an impressive line-up of gleaming superyachts, showcasing recent refits and raft of luxury amenities on offer as they gear up for a busy summer charter season ahead.

This year, we are pleased to announce that YachtCharterFleet will be back on the ground reporting on all the action from the red carpet and updating YachtCharterFleet.com with the latest news from the show.

What to expect from the 2022 MEDYS

The show’s organizers are promising an action-packed social programme of parties, yacht hops and on-board lunches where leading charter brokers can get to know the vessels, captains and crews, and ensure they are capable of delivering the best luxury yacht charter experience in order to provide in-depth feedback to prospective clients.

There will also be a range of events designed to facilitate networking, and attendees can expect lively functions in the evening and informative talks during the day. There will also be thrilling competitions, live music and an exciting array of exhibitions taking place across the 5-day event.

Superyachts on show

Show-goers will be kept busy at Nafplion harbor aboard the many motor yachts, sailing yachts, luxury gulets and luxury catamarans making an appearance at this year’s show.

Of the 90+ luxury charter yachts currently signed up to attend, there are a number of standout debuts for 2022 including the impressive 95m/312ft superyacht O’PARI from Golden Yachts and the 55m/181ft superyacht GECO from Admiral yachts, both delivered in 2020, as well as the sleek 47m/154ft Benetti yacht AFRICA I, delivered by the Italian yard in 2010 and refitted in 2020.

In addition to the lineup of charter yachts, there will be the usual hive of activity in the exhibition zone, where a range of exhibitors prepare to showcase their luxury lifestyle brands, yachting services, marine products and the latest water toys and accessories.

Chefs’ Competition 2022

One of the highlights of the show is the Chefs’ Competition, which this year will see competitors cooking up a vegan feast for the senses grounded in the flavors of Greek tradition. The judging panel this year includes 2 Michelin-starred Chef Angelos Lantos, who was the first in Greece to receive the highly coveted award. He will be joined by Chef Thanos Stasinos, who has worked in executive roles at some of Europe’s finest restaurants.

The Chef Competition will run alongside the Tablescaping Competition where yacht crew will get to unleash their creative flair to produce show-stopping table settings to impress the judges.

YachtCharterFleet will be on hand, of course, covering the results as they are announced as well as reporting on other findings from the show, which runs until Wednesday May 4th.

If you would like more information on any of the yachts attending this year’s show, please contact a recommended charter broker.
