Ex-charterer takes delivery of 111m Lurssen superyacht TIS

The 111m/364ft megayacht TIS has been delivered to her owner, leaving Lurssen's facilities yesterday afternoon to make her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.

After launching last year and completing sea trials in the North Sea, TIS been delivered to her owner and is making her way to the Mediterranean in time for the summer season. The journey is expected to take five days.

The ex-charterer was able to give significant input into the creation of his new build, thanks to seven years experience chartering some of the finest superyachts on in the international fleet.

It is reported that he was able to make contributions to a myriad of design elements, and had specific ideas about the types of special features, amenities and layout which would best suit his mammoth megayacht.

The owner’s influence over the design of his superyacht highlights the importance of undertaking private yacht charters before making the jump to ownership. It is believed that over 60 per cent of people who commission new superyachts are previous charter clients.

Spread across six decks, the exterior and interior design of the motor yacht are the work of Winch Design. Designed with family in mind, the superyacht boasts plenty of stand-out features including a 12-metre swimming pool on the upper deck aft, a resort-inspired spa and palatial central staircase.

It is believed that over 60 per cent of people who commission new superyachts are previous charter clients.

What’s more, she will feature twin helipads for arriving and departing in style and a tender garage with the capacity to house two 13m tenders, two 10m tenders, a submarine and an array of other cutting-edge toys. There is plenty of accommodation for up to 22 guests, which includes an enormous private owner’s deck.

The Lurssen-built superyacht currently ranks number 33 in the World’s Top 100 Superyachts, giving Lurssen a total of 30 yachts on the leaderboard, including the world's longest: the 181m/593ft superyacht AZZAM.

As of yet, it is not known whether M/Y TIS will join the charter fleet; we would like to hope so, considering her owner is evidently an avid charterer.
