The imposing 73m/241ft explorer yacht LEGEND (ex GIANT) is to be transformed into a charter yacht and made available for luxurious adventure vacations in the far corners of the globe.
The team at Diana Yacht Design are in the final design stages of the custom conversion which is due to be completed by ICON Yachts in the Netherlands. LEGEND was built in 1974 by the IHC Holland shipyard as a fully-classified Class 1 icebreaking vessel, representing strength, safety and quality in every aspect. This will set her in good stead as she makes her way into the luxury charter market, traversing the far-flung cruising grounds of Antarctica, Greenland and beyond.
The vast exterior and interior volume that LEGEND has to offer will ensure she competes with the most impressive superyachts available to rent in the world and plans have already been made to install a swim platform, swimming pool and commercially certified helideck. Perfect for the ultimate in adventure above and below the waterline, she is also to be equipped with a submarine which will be stored in a generous tender garage on the fore deck.
Additionally, superyacht LEGEND will benefit from some exterior alterations to give her a sleeker, more modern look while retaining her original expedition style charm, all of which will be overseen by the team at Verkerk Yachting Projects.
These types of explorer yachts, along with the unique superyacht experiences they provide have become an increasingly popular choice for charter clients and with vessels such as the stunning 73m/240ft Perini Navi GRACE E and the 2011 NAIA by Freire Shipyard, it’s easy to see why. Offering the highest levels of luxury, extensive facilities and impeccable styling combined with exception ocean-going abilities, they are able to offer comfort and world discovery in equal measure.
