Oceanco’s 90m superyacht DAR wins top award in Cannes

The recently delivered 90m/295ft motor yacht DAR picked up the ‘Yacht of the Year’ award at the prestigious World Yacht Trophies in Cannes on Saturday.

Held during the Cannes Yachting Festival, the award ceremony took place at a gala event in Cannes' Carlton Hotel where shipyard Oceanco, Captain Kaludio Marcelic and exterior designer Luiz de Basto were on hand to receive the accolade on stage, as shown in the Instagram post below.

The win comes just a few months after DAR was delivered to her owner and she is now expected to replicate her success at the Monaco Yacht Show Superyacht Awards next week.

She clearly stands out from other newly-launched superyachts and this can be put down to de Basto’s revolutionary exterior styling and the sophisticated interior design by Nuvolari Lenard.

At 90 metres, the motor yacht yields a huge amount of volume, but de Basto has ensured the profile remains long, sporty and lean, while the modern interior is characterised by the rich use of contemporary fabrics.

But her triumph is not solely down to aesthetics: Oceanco’s exceptional build quality must also be applauded as must the ground-breaking technological advances she embodies.

Reflecting the latest innovations in glass technology, her superstructure is completely finished in glass which, from the interior, provides panoramic floor-to-ceiling views aft, to port and to starboard.

The extensive use of glazing also ensures luxury yacht DAR fulfils the brief to have direct contact with her marine environment and it likewise helps to maximise opportunities for outdoor living.

Brimming with cutting-edge technology, DAR was the first yacht built in the Netherlands to be given the official Lloyd’s Register Integrated Bridge System (IBS) notation and designation.
