More than 250 of the world’s leading modern and contemporary art galleries will display works of art in a variety of mediums across the city for the next four days.
In total, the annual Art Basel Miami will showcase over 4,000 artists from around the world, putting the spotlight on both up-and-coming creatives and more established names.
As usual, the Miami Beach Convention Center will be the hub of the art fair, displaying the four main show sectors. But, this year, there will be an entirely new layout. Booths will be larger, aisles will be wider and there will be more alluring facilities for dining and taking a break.
The main and most prestigious body of work will be on display in the Galleries sector, the second largest section, which displays new work, is Nova and ‘one major project by a single artist’ is permitted in the Positions sector. The fourth sector, known as Survey, is reserved for art made before 2000.
On top of the artworks on show at the convention center, there is more than 20 satellite fairs scattered across the city. Collins Park will host its annual exhibition of outdoor sculpture, SCOPE will set up on the sand of Miami Beach and NADA will present the work of emerging artists.
