The Top 5 Largest Charter Yachts at the Monaco Yacht Show 2017

By Rebecca Bradbury   30 August 2017

The yachting industry will turn its attention exclusively to the Monaco Yacht Show 2017 when it gets underway at the end of September and, as the iconic Monaco event is synonymous with the world’s biggest superyachts, we round up the five largest charter yachts in attendance.

Running from 27th to 30th September, the Monaco Yacht Show will showcase an exhibition of 125 magnificent superyachts, from the latest launches to some of the most popular on the charter scene. Here, in ascending order, are the top five largest charter yachts – in terms of length – signed up for the four-day event.

CLOUD 9

One of the most exciting launches of 2017, the 74m/243ft charter yacht ‘Cloud 9’ will be making her debut at this year’s show and is expected to be extremely popular among attendees.

A close collaboration between CRN, Zuccon International Project and Winch Design, she is a magnificent and powerful fusion of innovative design and engineering expertise.

A free-flowing layout and a flawless balance between the interior and exterior spaces create a relaxed indoor-outdoor living environment. Open-air areas of note include a large beach club complete with a water-side swim platform and a private deck forward of the master suite.

Other key features include a spa and hair dressing salon, a pool with spa jets, and a Jacuzzi and Teppanyaki bar on the sundeck. She is able to sleep up to 12 guests in eight cabins on a private yacht charter.

ANASTASIA

First appearing at the Monaco Yacht Show in 2008 – the year of her launch from Oceanco – the award-winning 76m/247ft motor yacht ANASTASIA will be returning for the 2017 edition, dazzling show-goers with her vast array of entertainment facilities designed for dynamic at-sea living.

Those lucky enough to get on board will be able to check out highlights such as a striking 2,700-litre aquarium, a main salon, which transforms into a 30-metre private nightclub, a gymnasium and health club on the sundeck, and a movie theatre.

Her Sam Sorgiovanna-designed interior deserves much commendation too. Art deco touches are added to the contemporary style, with exotic hardwoods, bamboo and embossed leather providing pleasing contrasts of light and dark, and a range of rich textures.

SILVER FAST

Sleek, slender and speedy, the arrow-like 77m/253ft luxury yacht ‘Silver Fast’ from Australian yard Silver Yachts boasts some remarkably distinct credentials, ranging from a higher length-to-beam ratio than is commonly accepted to a shimmering silver hue and a top speed close to 30 knots.

Despite these differences, the interior design from Vain Interiors of Germany exudes a sense of timelessness. Expect bulkheads of open-grain teak, intimate areas in which to lounge, and a colour palette of greys and browns set off perfectly by white framed monochrome prints.

Said to be the most popular features for charter guests are the water-side beach club with a beauty salon, massage room, sauna and gym area, and an indoor-outdoor dining setup on the main deck aft known as the winter garden. Up to 20 guests can dine here in all weather conditions.

LEGEND

A Soviet icebreaker turned world-wide explorer, the 77m/254ft expedition yacht LEGEND is sure to stand out when lined up in Monaco. With robust, powerful lines, she underwent a 12-month refit at Icon Yachts in 2016 and has been providing off-the-beaten-track charter adventures ever since.

Among her most attractive features are a certified helipad, a huge 16-person spa pool complete with a waterfall, a gym, a movie theatre and a Balinese spa with a sauna, Jacuzzi and beauty salon. A helicopter and submarine can even be chartered at an extra cost.

Similarly wowing is the interior aboard LEGEND. Headed up by Berkerk Yachting Projects, the style is best defined as ‘nautical glamour’ and runs throughout her main salon, whisky bar, cigar room and 13 en-suite guest cabins. She is, in fact, one of the rare charter options capable of sleeping up to 26 guests.

AQUARIUS

At 92 metres in length, superyacht AQUARIUS is the longest yacht signed up to this year’s Monaco Yacht Show. Featuring a resolutely contemporary exterior design, with a conventional bow and raked superstructure hinting at her Feadship DNA, it won’t just be this debutant’s sheer scale turning heads.

Launched earlier this year, the yacht’s profile comes from the boards of Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design, the Dutch firm also behind her interior design. The latter’s styling is described as calm and soothing with English sycamore, silk carpets, smooth leather and ivory onyx marble providing a sense of timeless luxury.

Impressive interior volumes and floor-to-ceiling windows throughout offer panoramic sea views, and the principal charterer will have the domain of a dedicated penthouse deck. The six large guest suites, meanwhile, are unusually positioned on the main deck.

A large swimming pool is located on the main deck aft, while the 23-metre-long sundeck provides the ultimate outdoor space. The sea-level beach club leads to a spa area housing a gym with a fold-down terrace for alfresco work outs, a massage room and beauty salon.
