The London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show opened its doors at the Thames-side exhibition venue of Old Billingsgate yesterday, and YachtCharterFleet was there to soak up all the action.
Opened by actor David Suchet CBE, the prestigious four-day event got underway at midday and treated visitors to a spectacular showcase of luxury items and services. Among them were representatives from the world’s top superyacht builders as well as luxury designers and furnishers in the sector.
Renowned German shipyard Lurssen was in attendance, offering an insight into its current and upcoming projects, and presenting a detailed scaled model of the impressive 95m/312ft superyacht KISMET.
From the UK was the Cornwall-based Pendennis Shipyard, who talked to us about its 30-month restoration of the 50m/164ft classic yacht MALAHNE. Meticulously transformed in 2015 to restore her original 1930s Art Deco features but now equipped with state-of-the technology, MALAHNE is available for charter in the Mediterranean this summer.
Dutch luxury yacht builder Amels was at the show too, presenting its latest superyacht projects as well as its Yacht Support range, created in co-operation with Damen. Recently the partnership has converted the 54m/177ft support vessel AD-VANTAGE, which is now available on the charter market.
Other yacht builders included the Italian Azimut Yachts, Florida’s Westport Yachts, and the German shipyards Nobiskrug, Blohm + Voss and Abeking & Rasmussen, who updated us on its new launch, the 72m/236ft superyacht CLOUDBREAK.
Also of interest to superyacht enthusiasts was luxury furniture maker Silverlining, whose extraordinary craftsmanship can be found on charter yachts such as the 78m/257ft superyacht AMARYLLIS and the 63m/205ft superyacht ‘Baton Rouge’.
Bringing together the various components of the superyachting industry, the London Yacht, Jet, & Prestige Car Show provides an incredible insight into both the private and charter markets
Held as the on-water element of the show is the London On-Water Yacht & Boat Show. Located in St Katharine Docks, this element of the event features two key areas, including a collection of the world’s finest new yachts and powerboats, and a vibrant marketplace of pre-owned boats for sale.
The London Yacht, Jet & Prestige Car Show and the London On-Water Yacht & Boat Show will run until Saturday May 6th.
