Amels’ 68m/222ft motor yacht ‘Aurora Borealis’ has been delivered and is undertaking her maiden voyage to the Mediterranean.
The first installment of the Amels 220 series, motor yacht Aurora Borealis, has been delivered to her owner.
She departed Amels’ facilities in Vlissingen on Tuesday and is currently en route to the Mediterranean.
It comes after the motor yacht hit the water for the first time on March 16 in the yard’s dry docks. She began sea trials shortly thereafter.
Tim Heywood has headed up the exterior styling of the yacht.
The classic lines and broad windows build on the signature characteristics of the Amels 212 series; however, the 220 range stands out with elongated decks, a 65 square metre swim platform and generous beach club.
Winch Design has created the custom interiors of the motor yacht. Across 1,150 square metres of space, the yacht houses seven cabins with accommodation for up to 14 guests.
Amenities include a guest elevator, steam room, spa facilities and a fully-equipped gym.
At the time of her launch, a representative of the owner said; “Everyone is really impressed with how seamless this project has been.
“This is the result of all those hours of work and meetings, cutting materials, selecting marbles, and now we are right on schedule.”
It is not yet known whether M/Y AURORA BOREALIS, known during construction as Project Waka, will be open for luxury yacht charters.
