By David Lazarevic   11 December 2019

Due to take place in February 2020 in Italy's Cortina d’Ampezzo, the Design and Innovation Awards will shine a spotlight on the outstanding superyachts deliveries of the past year.

Taking place as part of the Superyacht Design Festival on February 2, the Design and Innovation Awards 2020 will honour a selection of new superyachts and their design teams.

An expert panel of judges will crown the winning yachts based on fundamental design elements, rather than judging the yachts in their entirety. There are 15 categories in total, and nominations for the awards have now closed.

Below is our exclusive overview of the charter yachts nominated for the 2020 awards ceremony.

EXCELLENCE

Nominated for: 'Outstanding Exterior Motor Yachts (50m and Above)' & 'Best Motor Yacht Design (Above 500 GT)'

Perhaps the most striking and visually breathtaking yacht delivered by Abeking and Rasmussen, this luxury superyacht has been nominated for Outstanding Exterior Motor Yachts - 50m and Above and Best Motor Yacht Design Above 500 GT.

Designed by London-based studio Winch Design, the contemporary exterior styling of the 80m/ 262ft superyacht EXCELLENCE presents a reverse bow and curvaceous decks that create a unique silhouette.

Her radical hull design features a spaceship-esque aesthetic and her multi-dimensional deck structure almost appears as though they are floating above each other, presenting tier after tier of luxury.

EXCELLENCE will be available for Caribbean yacht charters this winter.

'Flying Fox'

Nominated for: 'Outstanding Exterior Motor Yachts (50m and Above)', 'Best Naval Architecture (Displacement Motor Yacht)' & 'Outstanding Lifestyle Features (Spa)'

Currently the world's largest charter yacht in the market and famed for her ample decks, the 136m / 446ft Lurssen-built megayacht 'Flying Fox' has been nominated for Outstanding Exterior Motor Yachts - 50m and Above, Best Naval Architecture Displacement Motor Yacht, and Outstanding Lifestyle Features. The lifestyle feature that has earnt her the nomination is her spa.

Boasting twin helipads, an enormous owner’s apartment,  a 12m long swimming pool, and deluxe split-level spa it comes to no surprise that this luxury charter yacht has been nominated for a lifestyle award. Even with her huge volume and huge selection of amenities, she is well-proportioned with sleek and distinct lines that make her stand out from the crowd.

She sports a classically stunning design from esteemed Espen Oeino which seamlessly balances the relaxing spa-styled interiors conceptualized by London based designer Mark Berryman.

'Flying Fox' will be available for yacht charters in the Indian Ocean this winter, exploring destinations including the Maldives and the Seychelles.

Designer Harrison Eidsaard has masterfully conceptualized an efficient and striking motor yacht that feels less like an untouchable vessel and more like a piece of art that ought to be experienced and enjoyed.

Her impressive limo tender has also put the superyacht up for a Tender of the Year nomination.

'Lady S'

Nominated for: 'Outstanding Exterior Motor Yachts (50m and Above)', 'Best Motor Yacht Design (Above 500 GT)', 'Tender of the Year' & 'Innovation of the Year (IMAX Cinema)'

Her low draft not only gives the superyacht access to shallower waters, but also makes for a more fuel-efficient charter, and the SilverYachts staple of building the hull of their superyachts out of aluminium makes her lighter meaning she consumes less fuel compared to steel builds. Her exterior styling comes from Espen Oeino.
