Superyachts in pole position for the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix 2023

By Nina Done   16 March 2023

The world-famous port city of Jeddah is gearing up to host the up-coming Formula 1 event over the weekend. With sunny and dry conditions forecast, the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix looks set to be another rip-roaring event for lucky race-goers on a corporate yacht charter.

With superyachts already lining up in the new Jeddah Yacht Club and marina, charter guests will be greeted with the noise of turbocharged engines tomorrow as the cars commence their practice sessions ahead of the main race on Sunday.

Heralding the second race of the season after Bahrain, the drivers and their teams are already in place at the Jeddah North Corniche Circuit, gearing up to compete on one of the most challenging tracks in the Formula 1 calendar.

The high-octane race promises another thrilling spectacle, with Max Verstappen already ahead in points – although, he has been reportedly struck down with a stomach bug, which may impact his lead. Aston Martin has also shaken things up this year with a competitive car set to rival the top three teams.

Currently, the leader board stands with Red Bull leading first and second, followed by Aston Martin, Ferrari and Mercedes, all vying for best of the rest. Although it's early days, with developments coming thick and fast, the event should prove nail-biting as each team tests their new designs and go all-out in this exhilarating night race set within the iconic Red Sea region.

Jeddah Marina & Yacht Club

The brand new marina, located near the ancient city of Jeddah, has been welcoming a veritable trove of luxury superyachts, who have all come to celebrate Saudi Arabia's Grand Prix event.

One of the most exciting corners on the track, turn 13, can be viewed Monaco-style from the decks of your superyacht in the newly developed Jeddah Yacht Club and marina (JYC), which was built in record time in readiness for Saudi Arabia's F1 event in 2022.

Already shaping up to be a world-class destination with a range of spectacular amenities, including a 5,000m² club house, wellness center and beach club featuring an infinity pool, the Jeddah Yacht Club is the perfect spot to watch the race from the comfort of your own private yacht charter.

The marina can accommodate over 100 yachts up to 120m (393ft) in length, and serves as a convenient stop-off for yachts on their way to the celebrated destinations of the Indian Ocean and South East Asia.

The JYC marina has also been recognised by Saudi officials as a port authority, meaning all immigration and customs can be dealt with on-site, including for foreign-flagged vessels that wish to charter in the region.

After the event, be sure to visit the famous UNESCO World Heritage-listed Mecca, which has become a sacred pilgrimage site for muslims around the world. Dating back to the 7th century, the ancient town of Jeddah offers visitors an enticing blend of rich history coupled with a cosmopolitan flair with its fine dining restaurants, shopping malls and premium facilities.

The Red Sea coastline is also renowned for watersports, such as windsurfing, wakeboarding, snorkeling and, of course, scuba diving, with some of the region's most well-known dive sites like Shipwreck Island and Sharm Obhur a stone's throw away.
